It was announced Wednesday that the departments will be getting nearly $900,000 for first-responder training and equipment as part of the Department of Homeland Security's "Assistance to Firefighters" grants program.
The money breaks down as follows:

Omaha Volunteer Fire Dept.: $61,513
Van Buren Fire Dept.: $125,876
Pleasure Heights Volunteer Fire Dept. in Lowell: $190,000
Johnson County Rural Fire District #3 in Hagarville: $127,608
Big Creek Fire Dept. in Lavaca: $55,216
Hindsville Rural Fire Dept.: $33,060
Norphlet Rural Fire Dept.: $96,900
Crossett Fire Dept.: $107,944
